Buphthalmos over Three Generations.

چکیده
Case Reports Case 1, a female child (IV, 3 in Pedigree) born on December 23, 1958, was noticed to have opaque corneae, of sufficient degree to prevent any estimate of the size of the pupils. There was corneal oedema but no appreciable abnormality of the corneal diameter. In the course of a few days the cornea of each eye had become obviously enlarged and a definite buphthalmos had become established. The father (III, 3) informed me that he suffered from buphthalmos, and that his father (II, 2) also had the same condition, and I have since been able to examine them both. Case 2 (III, 3) was first seen by an ophthalmic surgeon in March, 1942, at the age of 15. Both eyes then showed definite buphthalmos with both discs pale and cupped. He has had treatment and now shows a symmetrical condition with a corneal diameter of 14 mm. The visual acuity in the right eye is 6/6; in the left eye it is 6/60. Both optic discs are pale and cupped. During the last 2 months the left eye has developed a high tension with corneal oedema and a further drainage operation has been necessary.

Unilateral microcornea and enophthalmos with bilateral anterior and posterior anomalies.
THE term microcornea should be reserved for the condition wherein an abnormally small cornea (diameter less than 11 mm.) occurs in an otherwise relatively normal eye (Mann, 1957). Friede (1922) suggested the term "anterior microphthalmos", because the whole of the anterior segment of the eye seems to be small. The rectus muscles are inserted abnormally far forwards, and the corneal curvature te...
متن کاملEffect of marker density and trait heritability on the accuracy of genomic prediction over three generations
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of marker density, level of heritability, number of QTLs, and size of training set on the genomic accuracy over three generations. Thereby, a trait was simulated with heritability of 0.10, 0.25 or 0.40. For each animal, a genome with 20 chromosomes, 1 Morgan each, was simulated. Different marker densities (2000, 4000 and 6000 markers) and 400 an...
متن کاملBuphthalmos with Facial Naevus and Allied Conditions.
THE association of buphthalmos with facial naevus has received attention in ophthalmological literature from time to time over a period of many years, and a recent revival of interest in the subject has been stimulated by the appearance of articles by Cushing, Parkes WVeber, Aynsley and others. About the time of the appearance of Aynsley's paper the following very early case came under my notic...
متن کاملCase Report Enucleation in a Patient with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 with Buphthalmos and Ocular Deformity
In infants with neurofibromatosis type 1, plexiform neurofibroma with altering anterior segment outflow system may result in raised intraocular pressure. Here we report a case of buphthalmos with neurofibromatosis (NF-1) who suffered with blindness suffered enucleation. Physical examination and histopathology were performed. Physical examination revealed Buphthalmos and vascularized cornea with...
متن کاملA Case Report of Incontinentia Pigmenti in a Newborn with Positive Family History Extending Over Three Generations
Background: Incontinentia pigmenti (IP), also known as Bloch-Sulzberger syndrome, is a rare X-linked dominant genodermatosis that presents at the time of birth or soon after birth with cutaneous manifestation. This disorder may also affect the ectodermal tissues, such as the central nervous system, skeletal system, eyes, hair, nails, and teeth. The dermatological findings occur in four successi...
